China to the World

“The origin [of Chinese foreign missions] was a vision to unite, in Jerusalem, the world-wide bride of Christ. Its objective was to reach all nations between China and Jerusalem with the gospel of Christ; but our understanding at that time could have been called ‘the dragonfly approach’: dip in the water and then fly away. However, now we are coming to understand how the Chinese church can fulfill her role in global mission. It will require a big heart and a lot of unity. The ‘dip and fly’ attitude has been replaced by an equipping and mentoring attitude. The original vision of 100,000 missionaries can only be achieved by sending them out one at a time, supporting them faithfully, and enabling them to become fruitful. This is the vision of China to the World.”

These recent words from a prominent Chinese church network leader indicates a maturing missions vision in the Chinese house churches. In early 2011, the Chinese house church signed a cooperative mission agreement with NM and a large western mission organization. It was an historic moment. All parties realized the importance of the Chinese in God’s end-time mission strategy. They also realized it will take the whole-hearted cooperation of the whole body of Christ on earth to finish the work of the Great Commission. Lord Jesus, may Your Kingdom Come!
