On the morning of February 26th, 2024, Israeli warplanes made their first in-depth airstrikes on Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon

since launching attacks on the Gaza Strip and engaging with Hamas in early October. This time, the airstrikes resulted in the death of two Hamas members. The location is approximately 45 kilometers from Nexus Center.

On the day of the airstrike, students and teachers at Nexus Center heard Israeli warplanes flying overhead during class and throughout the day. The children and teachers felt fearful and uneasy and prayed together for the peace of Lebanon.

Major news media outlets are discussing whether the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Lebanon will escalate.

Prayer Items:

1.   In recent years, the COVID-19 pandemic, economic instability, and now especially this border conflict have fueled severe inflation. The people of Lebanon and refugees are suffering from hunger and many are being forced to flee, with many residents of the southern region relocating to the central or northern regions in search of safe shelter.

2.   Three days ago, at a gathering of the Nexus Center with our students’ parents, they shared wonderful testimonies which included changes in their children, academic progress, and even a sense of unusual gratitude. The seeds of the gospel have taken root and are sprouting in their hearts. May the Lord grant peace, allow these seedlings to grow strong, and enable Nexus Center to continue nurturing them.

3.   May the Lord protect all of Nexus Center’s coworkers, teachers, students, and their families! Particularly remember a Chinese family of four, with a five-month-old and a five-year-old daughter, for peace and safety.

4. May the Lord safeguard Nexus Center and Antioch Church and enable us to continue operating peacefully during this difficult time, and seize the many opportunities to spread the Gospel!
