But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. (1Cor 1:26-29)

Walking With the Called

Nexus is willing to walk with those overseas workers who have received His call, haven’t looked back, and have given their all. The starting point is “walking with God.” At this time in China’s history, He has given a special call to those who want to be members of His “Pioneer Band”…people without high educational achievement or vast knowledge, but who are precious in God’s eyes. Some say that the next ten or twenty years will be China’s “golden opportunity” to take the gospel to other cultures, but no one actually knows what the international situation will be like twenty years down the road. The harvest is ripe; now is the best chance to work! He has prepared a feast in China and called the guests, but nobody is paying attention! So He’s still waiting for us, weak and unworthy though we are, to take advantage of this opportunity to eat our fill of the best fare. Are you willing to come to the feast? Or do want to wait twenty more years, until you are mature in every way? We are calling on the Lord of the harvest, asking Him to raise up His outstanding servants to “work while it is yet day.” And we will also work hard to walk with those He calls, and we’ll see how He “establishes strength in the mouths of babes and suckling infants.”

Banana City: Drug User Brother Tai Answers the Call

I’ve only got a junior high school education; I used to be a drug user and a Buddhist. I started taking drugs in 1999. Within the first two years, I used up all my savings and wealth to buy drugs. When that was gone, I started robbing, collecting ‘protection money,’ stealing, cheating, even picking up trash to sell. Also I beat people up just to get their money, which I then used to go buy drugs. I was totally bound by drugs. I tried to commit suicide three times, but failed each time. God saved and protected me, time and time again, and His deep love drew me and has led me right up to the present time.

Call to Banana City

After I encountered the gospel in 2004, God changed me, and in 2006 I believed in Jesus and started to get off drugs. After that I received some training and started working in drug rehab ministry, and after helping nine other people to quit drugs, I returned home to work. Every time I think about God’s love for me I feel so thankful and so moved! God gave me my life back again!

Banana City is a Buddhist country whose people are bound, suffering under Satan’s dominion, living under a very heavy curse due to their ignorance. My heart has been captured, and I’m willing to “go” for the Lord and bring deliverance in His name to those bound, oppressed souls!

The Bound Set Free

A 68-year-old brother was demon-possessed for many years. He used to live in graveyards, wandering around, eating garbage or stealing people’s food offerings to the dead. We shared the gospel with him, helped him take a bath and change his clothes, gave him food, and prayed for him. After that, little by little, he came back to reality and got completely well. Now he’s studying and helping in the ministry in Banana City. This is the work of God Himself, changing people and delivering them from bondage.

A Cripple Walks

One sister had become paralyzed from the waist down after childbirth and had been in that condition for twelve years! We prayed together for her and shared gospel truths with her. Later she believed, began growing in the Lord little by little, and soon decided to be baptized into the Name of Jesus. The day she was baptized, she suddenly wanted to get a cane and try to walk, and so she’s started walking a bit. This is His very own work, healing the sick, making the lame walk!

Eyes Opened

A sister became blind after recovering from an illness four years ago. We preached the gospel to her and she believed. We prayed for her together and asked God to heal her. She went home and slept that night, and in the morning when she woke up, she could see! We thank God for His healing, opening their eyes to be able to see and also to see His salvation!

A Persecutor Transform

Two months ago a miraculous thing happened: the mayor of a certain village had been persecuting Christians. For some reason he then became
possessed by a demon! He would start beating any person or animal that he encountered. When arrested, he beat the policeman; he broke car windows and even ate glass…later he ran away and came back home. We prayed for him and the demon came out. He slept, and when he woke up, he repented and believed in the Lord. Now he’s holding on tight to Jesus, following Him with all his strength. This has greatly touched many hearts in his village. Thank God for His power to transform hard hearts! May He “get” all the hearts in the village!

Banana City Discipleship Training Class

In order to better equip local believers, we’ve started a training class in Banana City that is attended by about 30 people. We’ve been going for about two months. Recently a Buddhist monk has come to know about our class. If he goes and stirs people up in the village, the
training class will certainly be attacked, and brothers and sisters in the class will be threatened. If that happens, we’ll have no choice but to stop for a while and consider moving to a safer place. May the Lord protect and lead us, and may He strengthen all our faith, no matter how we are persecuted! May more people in Banana City become His faithful followers!

He Himself has worked signs and miracles, healed people and cast out demons and brought more people to Himself. Lately we’ve been to Banana City a few times, taken teams to visit refugee camps, and distributed clothing to the poor and needy. We’ve seen His power displayed through every brother and sister. As I watched one 81-year-old sister who was working with us, carrying things for refugees, walking so far on difficult terrain, I knew it was only by God’s grace and power,and God used this to heal my lower back pain–He is really wonderful! He wants to display His grace through somebody, no matter whether young or old, whether in good health or not, when able or unable, God will use them and display His grace!

Lychee City Orphanage School

Brother Zane and his coworkers help build a pig pen, teach on how to plant grass, mix feed, and other farming knowledge for the purpose of improving the children’s nutrition. Now they have nearly 200 children all of whom are Christian, and about half are either war orphans or abandoned children.

The war in Lychee City is still raging, so many homes destroyed, so many people forced to flee far from their homes and come to the China border to seek refuge. The condition of the children of these fugitives is truly heart-wrenching.

Many locals are lost in drug addiction, and many have died or disappeared, leaving children that are not being taken care of by anybody. The school takes war orphans and abandoned children, and due to its reputation local parents want to bring their children there to study and even to live.

In this place students can learn not only the local language, Chinese, and the ethnic language and culture, but also life principles, techniques of planting and raising crops, and other life skills. Although classrooms and dorms are crude and meals are simple–only providing rice, vegetables, and sauce–the children are no longer suffering from the depression and fear they had when they first arrived. They look at the coworkers as their mothers and fathers…they are innocent and lively…and it’s because the love of Christ is here.

Let’s “Walk With the Called” together, and in the season He has prepared, we’ll reap the harvest together!
