South Asia \u2013 People Affected by Water City\u2019s Brutal Floods Urgently Require Food and Materials<\/p>\n

Exodus 14:13\u00a0Moses answered the people, \u201cDo not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today<\/p>\n

Dear Friends in Christ,<\/p>\n

August floods in Water City affected 27 districts and 5 million people. Water from swollen rivers in addition to local thunderstorms produced flooding which ravaged one village after another, and within a week 77 people were dead. About a third of the entire country was inundated with floodwaters. The flooding destroyed more than 618,000 hectares of land (more than 1.5 million acres, or about 2400 square miles). In recent years flooding disasters have regularly lasted more than two months; but this year, because many earthen dams failed, the death toll is extremely high. Yet another round of flooding is predicted for the end of this month.

\nNali is a large town in northern Water City of more than 50,000 people, most of whom are Muslims with a small Hindu population. Just one minority group there has one church. In August 2016 we helped send a local Water City couple to Nali for Gospel work. They have now led a few families to the Lord and trained them as coworkers, and have built up many relationships in nearby villages.

\nIn April this year we started doing children\u2019s ministry. We set up a simple school and took in more than 90 students, with four teachers participating. Because all kinds of resources are so scarce in the countryside, parents were thrilled that their children could attend school, and they hurried to sign their children up.<\/p>\n

\nAt first, religious leaders from the surrounding community wanted to expel us from the area and tried to stop us from operating. But thankfully, when they saw how we do our utmost to take good care of the children and focus on educating them properly, they began to accept us and even sent their own children to our school.<\/p>\n

The flooding has impoverished Nali\u2019s people even more than they were before, so we plan to use the utmost of our feeble ability to help them. We are preparing \u2018love-packages\u2019 of food to give out as we go visit them and comfort them, and we hope His love can warm their hearts! We hope that soon they will be able to receive the fact that \u201cHe sits enthroned over the flood; He is enthroned as King forever\u201d (Psalm 29:10).<\/p>\n

Thank you, together we delivered Food \u2018Love Packages\u2019 include rice, beans, salt, spices, oil, and flour. Each package cost U.S. $7.75 and we gave out 400 packages, 100 are for our students\u2019 families and 300 for families in the community we served and extremely poor families. so the total cost U.S.$3100.
