Our Vision:

Nexus Ministries is dedicated to assisting Chinese missionaries and churches overseas by providing financial support, guidance, and spiritual care so that they can integrate into the local culture and succeed even in difficult environments where Christianity is prohibited.

Dear Friends of Nexus,

The challenges and sacrifices facing missionaries serving in Tree City, Olive City, and Water City include political instability and violence, with targeted attacks on churches, institutions, and their personnel. Due to poverty or war, medical supplies are lacking and facilities are limited, especially those for children’s education and medical care.

Water City Workers

Nexus Ministries has been partnering with the following three couples since they first arrived in Water City:

1. Norman and Linda. Johnny first met this young couple in Water City in 2007. They have been serving there for eighteen years now and are now a family of five.
2. Alex and Ruth have served in Water City for twelve years.
3. Lewis and Lucy have served in Water City for eleven years.

These three couples, now with a total of thirteen family members, have gone through many hardships over the past decade or so. Today they speak fluent Bengali and English and have established training centers and churches in Muslim communities serving local orphans, widows, and others.

Nexus has maintained our original call from the Lord Jesus, and with our missionaries we go through the joyful as well as the difficult times, providing physical, mental and spiritual care and financial support. Their success is our pride.

In recent years, the Water City government has changed the law and tightened visa policies; so even though the missionaries have made significant adjustments, they still face the likelihood of having to leave Water City temporarily to wait for the right opportunity to return. Their visas expire early next year.

The south Asian country of Water City, with about 170 million people, is the 8th most populous country in the world. In mid-June 2024, protests erupted due to dissatisfaction with the government’s job quota system for civil servants. These protests soon escalated into widespread violence. The United Nations reported that as of August 11, six hundred fifty people had been killed in riots and thousands had been injured.

In the violence, Christians and other minority groups have been targeted. Churches and other venues have been attacked and vandalized and many properties destroyed or looted, exacerbating tensions between communities. The political unrest has severely affected missionaries’ visas and business activities. However, despite the instability, the transition may also provide opportunities for reform and revitalization.

Please especially remember Water City! Let us seize this moment and pray that this crisis is turned into opportunity, that the Kingdom of God is expanded, and that the stringent missionary visa policy is reversed.

Tree City Nexus Center – Riva’s Good Deed

Riva, 15, was enrolled in Nexus Center two months ago. Her experience during this period has deeply touched and changed her! She shared this heart-warming story:

“One day I was on my way to the store when I saw a little boy crying. I asked him why he was sad, and he said to me, “I’m hungry, I live with my grandma who can’t work, and I have to beg to survive.” His words touched my heart; I told him to wait for me, and then I rushed home. I asked my family to prepare some food for him. When I brought it and gave it to him, I also gave him all the money in my pocket. He was so happy — he couldn’t believe it!

My parents said, “We are absolutely amazed .. and so proud of our daughter! It was a great thing she did!” When they asked me why I’d done it, I told them I learned at Nexus Center to love and care for others, and that in order to please God, we should help people — as the Bible says, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ I am going to keep on doing good and helping others!

Tree City Nexus Center: Love and Fear — Laila, The Little Girl Looking For a Hug

At our school, there is a little girl named Laila whose home life is full of violence and fear. Her parents beat her and her siblings and have made them all very afraid. When she first came to our school, she was a very quiet girl whose eyes seemed full of hurt.

But as we started showing her love, something amazing began to happen. She loved hugs and would hold on to us tightly. The despair she seemed to feel broke our hearts. Now, when it’s time to go home from school, she doesn’t want to leave. She hugs us tightly as if the love she feels at school is the only light in her world.

We’ve been deeply moved by Laila’s silent cry for love and safety, and we’re doing all we can to help her heal. We want to let her know she is precious and worthy of love! We are going to do everything possible to protect her and lead her toward a brighter future.

Please keep this sweet child in your hearts and prayers. Together we can give her the love and support she needs!

House of Hope: We’d never known each other, but our first visit changed our lives!

The House of Hope actively reaches out to new families and shares the Gospel. Despite dangers brought on by the war in Olive City, the team continues to visit different families, and many have received Jesus! This is our mission: to be the light, and to share the light!

The House of Hope is determined to keep serving on the front lines with education and ministries to youth and women. Recently, we took a group of women to visit the church where Paul met Ananias, and we shared the story of how God transformed Paul from a persecutor into a missionary.

The Women’s Excursion

These women were deeply moved by this visit and are now even more engaged in Bible study. They described the trip as ‘very wonderful’ and are looking forward to more such opportunities in the future.

These testimonies bring us great joy and strengthen us in our mission. We are committed to sharing hope, to changing lives, and to giving all the glory to God. Every story of change and hope reflects His grace and inspires us to continue serving Him.

LEBANON – Preparing for the Worst: Construction of Shelters

Recently, Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon have been engaged in full-scale war. Every day, warplanes or drones are heard flying over or bombing targets near Nexus Center. We are building a shelter in a relatively safe place in case the situation worsens and are buying necessities such as food, diesel fuel, etc, as winter is approaching. I am asking the dear friends who know and love Nexus Mission to support us with prayer and finances, as our income over the past year has not been equal to our expenses. We need your help to make all the needed preparations!

More than 300 children and their family members are served by Nexus Center and the House of Hope in Syria. They especially need your love and care at this difficult time. I appeal to everyone on behalf of Nexus co-workers, please remember us in your prayers! … and let us all continue to do our duty at our posts. I’m very proud of my co-workers, as not one of them who could easily leave to return to his or her country (who has a foreign passport) has made any preparation to leave. I sincerely thank them!

Pray the Lord grants His special peace, wisdom, and understanding, so that Nexus Center and the House of Hope may shine brightly in the darkness for the Lord!
