Dear Friends,

Phil 2:3 “…consider others better than yourselves.” (The Lord Jesus is saving His people in midst of the chaos of war, pain, and struggle…they are better than we are!)

Recently Turkey has been sending warplanes across the border to bomb a city of Syria, and some of our coworkers at the Center are very worried because they have many relatives there.  They are very worried about the safety of family members, and it has greatly affected their emotional state.  God has called Nexus to join hands and hearts with the Center and the church in Syria to extend our hands to help them in order to fulfill the Great Commission!  Together with you, we are going to help the residents of this bombed city (especially relatives of our coworkers in the Center) and shine the Light of Christ on those in the midst of the war’s chaos, pain, and struggle.  Let’s proclaim in faith that Syria’s church is better than we; they are being salt and light, and the darkness will not be able to cover this land, which belongs to the Lord!  We have one mind and one desire, so that our joy may be full!  (And the Syrian church’s joy may be full!)

The following pictures show the homes of our coworkers, and we gladly mourn and grieve with them. Their families are our families—“When one member suffers, every member suffers with it” (1 Cor 12:26).

In Syria six months ago, one brother was detained by the police and put in prison. We prayed for his family and gave them an offering, and finally he was released, and then he moved to a different, safer city.  Thank the Lord for taking care of him!  He found work, and he sent this piece of clothing to his daughter, who is our coworker, to express his gratitude.

Christmas and Chinese New Year in the Refugee Camps – The camp residents rarely get to eat meat. So at Christmas time we donated four large pigs—one each to four refugee camps—and a young pig to one orphanage.  We wanted to give a bit of a boost to their nutrition and some encouragement and comfort to their hearts!  During the spring festival time we came to visit them again, bringing fruit, pork, and biscuit snacks.  It was impossible for them to get together with their families, but we brought small blessings and gifts and had a get-together in God’s Love!

“Doing Small Things With Great Love”: In mainland China we made preparations to donate clothing to residents of 3000-foot-altitude refugee camps:  thank you all for your very positive response!  We received 150 new girl’s down jackets, 725 new sweaters, and about two tons of other new and used clothing.  The winter in the camps has been extremely cold, with snow and temperatures as low as -5 ℃. Children get up in the early morning and go into the forest looking for edible plants; and when they return, their heads are covered in frost.  We brought the love that everyone had sent, and the clothing, but still saw some children wearing thin shirts and nothing on their feet but sandals. Even two tons of clothing couldn’t meet the needs of everyone in two refugee camps!  Clothing and food are always scarce here, and they have an ongoing need for donations and prayer support.

[As War Resumes, the Refugee Population Increases in the Bitter Winter] Three warplanes have come on bombing sorties again and again, and the target area is near the refugee camps we are helping.  The result has been panic and more refugees fleeing to the relatively safer areas near the China border. In the coldest season of the year when the frost is very thick and the frigid wind is whistling through the mountains, another group of refugees comes, supporting the elderly and carrying the young, fleeing for their lives…but not knowing where to go.  Let’s go with the refugees together and give our love to these “little ones” who lack even the most basic necessities – food and clothing! Let’s put our love into action and bless these “little ones” so they can grow up healthy and at peace.
