Golden Opportunity – Summary Report

The Look of Hunger
Dear Pastors, Churches, and Friends of Nexus,
May God’s peace be with you! Thank you for your prayers and support, for joining hands with Nexus in the “A Bite to Eat for the Hungry Project — A Golden Opportunity”!
Summary Report:
After the deadly 2022 floods in Pakistan, we started helping the most severely affected flood victims.
Our objective was to distribute 2000 food packets, each costing HKD $160 (USD $21) for a total of HKD $320,000 (USD $42,000). Each packet provided food for two weeks for a family of six, helping Pakistani, Afghani, and Burmese disaster victims and refugees to fight hunger.
“Behold, My words … will be fulfilled in their ‘Kairos’ (proper time)!” Luke 1:20
By providing practical help to those affected by floods and war — by showing God’s love and mercy, a window has been opened for the light of the Gospel. “A Bite to Eat for the Hungry” has helped overcome hunger with love — your donated food packet has helped us help a family SAY NO to hunger!
Up to the present, we have been helping medical stations, we have provided food packets (of rice, flour, oil, etc) to more than 2,500 families, we’ve helped 20 families rebuild their houses, we’ve helped strengthen roofs and outer walls for houses in danger of collapse. We have also distributed more than 500 New Testaments (including some in the Sindhi language), more than 700 Gospel booklets and Christian books, and more than 100 DVD’s.

Afghani children are both refugees and disaster victims.

Many years of civil war and rebellion have, in recent years, produced or left behind many orphans — the children of Grace Center!

We help disaster victims whose houses were completely destroyed, and the extremely poor received extra help. Local church leaders have worked hard together with us, investigating and giving good suggestions. It has been a great opportunity for us to establish wonderful fellowship with churches, especially rural churches. We’ve helped many Christian families; and we’re very thankful to God that we’ve been able to help many non-Christian families as well!

A Grateful Expression

Testimony:
Once when we were distributing food packets, 300 people came. We had the opportunity to preach the Gospel to them and tell them how important the Bread of Life is! Their grandparents in Pakistan came from a Hindu background. Their ancestors once told them that missionaries would come and distribute food to them. In the course of time, some of them received Christ as their Savior. People there seem to be very hungry for God’s Word. They listened very carefully, and they wanted someone to come and share the Bible with them. The population of Tharparkar is over one million, but there is not even one church building in the area. The harvest is already ripe! May God send workers so these people can be saved!
The people living in Tharparkar are very unfortunate! Even ordinary household necessities are not available — especially education. Now many people have rebuilt their houses. We are very thankful to brothers and sisters who’ve helped us with this! Ever since our project has concluded, people have been more open to the Lord than before. May God bless and protect all our brothers and sisters who have helped us!
Thank you!
Pastor Riaz Gill
