“Love One Another” — Both a Command and a Blessing!

We all want to love one another. But why is it that many times we can’t seem to do it?

The starting point for loving one another is God. Only by first loving God can we also truly love one another. We have to be humble; we have to admit our own strength is not enough, rely on God, and ask the Holy Spirit to renew us so that we actually do love one another.

Southeast Asia — Coconut City — Grace Center

Chaw Chaw is the person in charge at Grace Center. She has to arrange for schooling as well as meals, lodging, medical costs, etc, for the children, who are orphans or children of single-parent families from across the border in Lychee City, who don’t have the ability to pay for what they need. Yet while ChawChaw was sharing with us, she was smiling brightly as she said, “The Lord said, ‘Let the little children come to Me.’ That’s why I like to see these children coming to know the Lord!” Obeying God’s Word is her motivation and her joy!

Testimony from Grace Center: Watermelons, Apples, and Mangoes!

One day, some of the Grace Center children picked some lemons from a neighbor’s tree to eat. One of their teachers learned what they’d done and said to them, “Taking other people’s things to eat is not right! If we want something, we can pray for it! So let’s pray together: ‘Lord Jesus, please give us watermelons, apples, and mangoes!’ “

Not long after, our mission team visited them. One sister on the team, Sister Lee, felt moved to buy fruit, and on the first day she bought watermelon for the children. The second day, she asked one of their co-workers, “What kind of fruit should I buy for the children?” The co-worker responded, “Apples aren’t grown around here, and imported fruit is very expensive. The children hardly ever get to eat apples.” So she bought a box of apples — enough for each child to have one. The third day, on their way to visit the Center, Sister Lee saw a fruit stand, and the mangoes looked very good. So she bought some to bring along. At the Center she put the fruit on the counter, and when one of the teachers saw it, she fell to her knees and started to cry.

Sister Lee didn’t understand why she was crying and asked her what was going on. The teacher told her what had happened with the children who took the neighbor’s lemons and then were taught to pray instead of stealing. Her tears were tears of gratefulness to the Lord, for hearing their prayer! The two of them then wept together at the faithfulness of the Lord.

“The Lord’s blessing has come to the country I love — Olive City!”

Jamil is from Olive City. He grew up there, established his occupation there, and started his family there. He has one son. Not long after the civil war broke out, he fled to Tree City. Now he is an important coworker of Nexus Center in Tree City who is still very concerned about his friends and relatives back in Olive City. He told us he had a dream to open a Nexus Center in Olive City. He wanted to bless his people with the knowledge of the Good News. We supported and encouraged him in this dream!

In May Jamil went with his wife, his son, and another co-worker from Tree City to Olive City. This was the very first mission team sent out from Nexus Center in Tree City! We’re thankful that now Nexus Center in Olive City has already been established.

We visited a school in Aleppo that has 1200 students. The school buildings are no longer safe due to the earthquake that occurred in February so the students are having their classes in tents:

Chaw Chaw’s and Jamil’s ministries are facing many challenges. What is the power that keeps them from wanting to give up — that gives them joy in serving others?

“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” John 14:23
