On The Rock or on the Sand?
Everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matt 7:24
The wisdom of the wise is not inborn or inherited — it comes from practical living. It isn’t discussing principles, but applying them. Its source isn’t academic study, but experience. To the wise, “hearing” and “putting into practice” are not two different activities but parts of the same one.
In August 2023, Nexus Foundation purchased 8,000 square meters (two acres) of land in northern Thailand. The land is to be used for Grace Center’s offices, classrooms, church, dormitories for children and coworkers, farmland, fish pond, etc. “Be strong and courageous — Take the land!”
“Take the land!” … This is a process which requires perseverance through times of testing.
Project Dorcas: From farmland, to landfill, to soil tamping for a firm foundation, until the roof is finally put on Grace Center’s planned facility — this process will take two or three years. Work is slowly beginning on most of the farmland and fish ponds; coworkers are putting up temporary buildings, digging wells, and beginning other preparations.
Please set aside time during Easter vacation in April 2024 to visit Grace Center! Nexus Mission is going to lead a special mission trip!
Together with The Potter’s House of Lychee City, We are inviting you to come as a family, and also inviting our local co-workers and young people to come cut bamboo for temporary buildings, plant farmland, etc. Let’s all go experience what it means to be “wise men” — people who hear and also put into practice what they hear!

Please continue to remember the Potter’s House in Lychee City, a country still at war, and Grace Center in Coconut City, which takes in refugee children from the war.
For Grace Center’s children, a new semester has begun. Please pray for their studies! And pray that the refugee children among them can obtain local IDs.
Nexus Mission — Report on the Project “Golden Opportunity — Give the Hungry a Bite to Eat” (which you and Nexus have joined hands to carry out)
In September 2021, Nexus Mission initiated the “Golden Opportunity — Give the Hungry a Bite to Eat” project, helping disaster victims and refugees in Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burma, and Laos to fight hunger.
A year later, September 2022, Nexus conducted the project again, this time with the goal of distributing 2000 food packets at HKD $160 each (total $320,000), each packet providing two weeks of food for a family of six, helping disaster victims and refugees in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burma, and other locations to fight hunger.
Historic, disastrous floods in Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, covered, incredibly, 1/3 of the entire country beginning in June 2022, leaving more than 1600 people dead and more than 33 million flood victims.
Afghanistan is a country that has experienced the bitterness of war for many years. According to UNHCR figures, up to 2022 Pakistan has been the destination of 1.3 million registered Afghani refugees — the fourth-most in the world — but adding to this figure the number of unregistered displaced Afghanis within Pakistan puts the figure at 3.5 million.
Forgotten Burma — The Civil War With No End in Sight
Burma has about 135 ethnic groups, some at war with the national government. Its ongoing civil war is known to be the longest continuous civil war in modern history. Nexus’ main focus — in one of its minority stronghold areas, in China, and in the northern Thai border area — is helping orphans and widows.
This project concluded in March 2023. Nexus Mission’s “Golden Opportunity” distributed 2,800 food packets in all.

Nexus Center Newsletter, Tree City
The war in southern Lebanon, bordering Israel, is about 170 km from Nexus Center; but we and our surroundings are safe. “A man reaps what he sows” (Gal. 6:7). This word is true!
Nexus Center is enjoying a bountiful harvest despite the economic situations in Lebanon and Syria, despite the war, and despite all dangers. No matter what the barriers or who is trying to hinder His work, nothing can keep God’s plan from being fulfilled! We of Nexus Center will continue to sow our seed — together, we will continue to act — to seek to be among the “wise” — to “hear” and to “do.”
Now Nexus Center has more than one hundred students studying English, Arabic, math, biology, geography, and civics. We also provide lunch for them twice a week and teach them the values, principles, and features of Christian faith.
I say, “Yes!! The Bible Is my psychotherapist.”
My name is Lena!! My family and I live near Nexus Center (Her father is one of its guards.) At first our whole family rejected the idea of even setting foot in the Center. But after some time we started to get to know the kind of activities the Center has, the love… Why were they helping people and not expecting anything in return? Then we heard the sound of praise and worship every morning coming from the Center, and we became more and more curious … and so finally we decided to join.
Lena related, “At first I went to the Center only because I was curious — ‘What were they doing? What kind of religious doctrines were they teaching?’ I am only a student, but I felt they are very different — I felt some things I’d never felt before. When they asked me if I wanted to join their Bible class, they said, “The class is voluntary — you join it only if you really want to.” And so I said, “Yes!”
“So I started coming to devotions, to discipleship training, to Bible classes, and to Sunday worship. I also began to read God’s Word. I was amazed because I found the answers to all my life’s problems written in the Bible! God really wants us to understand!
“So every time I have a question, right away I go study what the Bible says about it; and when I feel depressed or have a difficult situation, I go read the Bible. I have discovered that the Bible is my psychotherapist!
“She (the Bible) didn’t just change my view of Christ and God; she changed my attitude about myself! I have been chosen to be a daughter of God!! I hope to learn a lot more of God’s Word! Nexus Center’s coworkers set good examples for people who want to follow Christ, and I hope to serve the Lord and follow their example.
I’m free!! There’s no way to put into words the joy in my heart or the feelings I have that come from meeting Jesus!
