Give me a well-fed “Christmas”

How To Celebrate Christmas?

The meaning of Christmas is not primarily about our celebrations; its main point is “Good News of Great Joy for All People!”

“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord'” (Luke 2:10-11).

At Christmas, Who Is Most Neglected?

Of course, Jesus is the main character of the Christmas story; but there were also many others involved, for example Jesus’ earthly parents Mary and Joseph.  Joseph was silent — not even one word of his is recorded  — but his obedience was no less important than Mary’s. As the man standing behind Mary, his ‘low profile’ or ‘concealment’ played just as vital a role as her ‘humility and obedience.’ It may be that Joseph is the most overlooked important person in the Christmas story.

How Can We Have “A Merry Christmas”?

Amina

Dear Uncles and Aunties,

My name is Amina, and I am 10 years old this year. My mother and I fled from the north of Olive City. Rent costs too much, so we had to sleep on the street. Or in trash collection centers, or under bridges. Also we had to look for food in the garbage. We weren’t happy — we felt ashamed to live like this, eating other people’s scraps and leftovers. But who cared? Or who would help, or even understand?

The House of Hope gave Amina an answer — “Jesus loves you and cares for you. He sees your suffering and wants to help you.” Amina and her mother smiled when they heard that, but they said, “How can Jesus help us?” The team answered, “He’s the One who let us meet you here — it’s not an accident. It happened so that He can bless you.” Then they gave them a sleeping bag, some warm clothing, and a food packet and also helped them find a temporary place to stay. They were so very grateful — actually they just couldn’t believe it!

Amina and her mother said: “Thank you that we can move into a house — thank you for giving us the first Christmas of our lives!”

A “Merry Christmas”

As winter is coming, we are going out and visiting destitute families living on the streets. We give out sleeping bags and warm winter clothes. It’s just normal for Christians to have sympathy — to care — so we share Jesus’ love and God’s Word with them. Our goal is that the Lord Jesus becomes their hope in the midst of despair!

In 2007, Johnny first set foot in Water City and experienced the ‘impenetrable’ traffic in this most densely populated of capitals. Years ago Nexus sent three Chinese families there to serve, all of whom now speak fluent the local language

With your help this Christmas season, Nexus desires to help one thousand ‘Aminas.’ Please remember all the places where Chinese overseas workers are serving: in order to carry out the ‘mission of Christmas,’ they need your partnership!
