2024 10 Nexus Mission Prayer Letter

2024 10 Nexus Mission Prayer Letter

Levant– Tree City

Nexus Center Student

Ministry: Tree City Nexus Center

On October 4, 2024, we received this message from the Center:

“The situation is very unstable, and it looks like it will only get worse; but we firmly believe God’s promises and intend to rely fully on Him. We have decided to continue our Sunday Service and will gather tomorrow (Saturday). Temporarily displaced families at the Center who have fled the bombing and our church members will worship together. Please ask God for His protection and guidance during this difficult, challenging time.

In addition, Nexus School will be open for students to attend classes freely whenever conditions are deemed safe, and all teachers will remain at their posts and continue to serve.”

  • Pray for an early end to the war — for peace in Tree City — for those who have lost family members to receive the Lord’s comfort, for injured civilians to be healed, and for families who have lost homes to receive help (especially as winter is approaching, when life is more difficult.)
  • Nexus Center now houses 35 people displaced by the war. Pray they will receive comfort and peace — and also receive the Gospel!
  • Pray for a smooth start to the new semester with safety for students and Nexus teams!

Samson & Ava

Personal & Family

  • During this difficult time, please pray for our family’s safety, emotional and spiritual welfare, strength, and guidance from the Lord (especially pray that our two young daughters do not suffer physical or mental trauma).

Ministry: The House of Hope

  • Many people from Tree City and Olive City came to the center. Pray for our team to have wisdom to serve the people we meet, who have many different needs.
  • Pray that the visiting team will be filled with the Holy Spirit and enthusiastic about sharing the Gospel with families they meet here.
  • We have a group of eight women, all of them Druze-background Christians, who are now reaching out and making disciples in Boise, Idaho. Pray that they will have the wisdom and courage as they share the Gospel.

Deborah

Personal & Family

  • Praise God, He opened the door for me to obtain a 15-month visa! I’m waiting for my passport to be returned to me from the capital.
  • Continue to pray for me to become acclimated to the food and the temperature. I’ve had stomach problems several times during the last month, but I am slowly getting better.
  • Continue to pray for God’s grace for my family and friends.

Ministry: Grace Center

  • Pray for the clean-up from the flood in the Center.
  • Pray for all those affected by the floods. Many have lost everything and have had to start over.
  • Pray for the right door to open so I can learn the language. Because of the flood, my language studies have been put on hold.

Thai Sister ChawChaw and Hong Kong Sister Winnie

Personal & Family

  • May God’s  protection and righteousness be upon ChawChaw as she faces difficult things.
  • Pray Chawchaw’s injured foot will be healed as soon as possible.

South Asia– Water City

Work in education in the countryside

Lewis & Lucy

Personal & Family

  • Pray for God’s guidance and blessing on our new plans.
  • Pray for the physical and spiritual health of our family of four.
  • Pray that when our second child goes to kindergarten, she will have favor in the eyes of both teachers and classmates.
  • Pray that our parents, brothers, and sisters will love God more and obey the will of our Heavenly Father; and may He bless them all with peace.

Ministry

  • Pray the restaurant we operate will be sold at a high price in God’s timing. Also, pray that everything goes smoothly with the sale of our cafe equipment and the refund of our rent deposit next month.
  • Pray for the health of our local co-workers. They teach the knowledge of the Truth to women and young people. May God use them to be a blessing to many!
  • Pray for the women and children we serve. May God draw them to know Him more, experience Him, and follow Him.

Jeremy & Iris

Personal & Family

  • Pray for my (Jeremy’s) studies.
  • May God give my wife more strength at work.
  • Pray for the health and safety of our son and our daughter.
  • Pray for my mother and sister’s family — may God work in their hearts to believe the Good News soon!

Ministry

  • May God lead me in my preparations to return to (and serve in) Water City (including the visa and fees)

Norman & Linda

Personal & Family

  • Pray for our smooth visa application.
  • Thank God, I (Norman) have found a factory that can provide me with a work visa, but I need to live at the factory. Pray God will protect my work, as there have been strikes and unrest among factory workers recently, resulting in the closure of many factories.
  • Linda has been at home alone taking care of our three children. May God strengthen and protect her!
  • My father recently went to the hospital for a check-up due to lumbar disc herniation. He is suffering from waist and leg pain and cannot work but is currently undergoing treatment. Pray the Lord will heal him completely.

Alex & Ruth

Personal & Family

  • Due to air pollution, we often suffer from coughs. Pray for the health of each of our family members.
  • In Water City, this season has a high incidence of dengue fever. Pray God protects us and keeps mosquitoes carrying the virus away from us!
  • Now that the recent revolution in Water City is over, people’s lives have basically returned to normal except that law enforcement is poor because the police system has not yet been fully normalized. Pray that God protects us!

Ministry

  • Pray for our ten adopted children. We are grateful that they have adapted well after being with us for three months and can keep up with their studies. Pray that God continues to protect them (they are 5 to 8 years old).
  • We now feel very stressed operating our business platform. Since the revolution, the business environment has been very poor, the currency has depreciated, and the government has increased taxes. Please pray that God will bless our business!
  • Pray for the local co-workers we serve together. May our Heavenly Father keep us united!
  • May God bless Water City!
