How Far From Peace Are You?

A mission team departed from Lebanon on October 4th and arrived back home in China the early morning of the 7th … and then Israel suffered a surprise attack that has turned into a serious war. The morning of October 10th during our devotional time at Nexus Center, we all heard the roar of warplanes flying over. Then we heard that “Israeli soldiers stationed in northern Israel had invaded southern Lebanon”; “Six locals have died.” These few days we’ve been hearing a constant stream of such items of frightening news. Candy returned to Hong Kong October 11th as scheduled; the 16th Johnny and his wife are to return there as well. Also, on the 12th, a Chinese family of four including their two girls — one 4½ and the other just 2½ months old — will arrive in Lebanon. Before they left home, we told them to consider delaying their trip; but after praying about it, both husband and wife felt a spirit of peace to come and replied, “Perhaps this time of greatest turmoil and instability is the best time for us — the very time we are needed the most”!

Nexus Center’s work continues — children are coming daily to the Center to study, small groups and Sunday meetings have not stopped — and we can share many of their difficult or ‘impossible’ situations. God’s grace has not been stopped, nor even decreased by what is happening — His grace is always enough!

A 2017 census by the Lebanese government reported the number of Palestinians in Lebanon at 174,000; also, Hezbollah holds considerable power. May the love and peace of Jesus Christ rule here and in the Middle East! He is the One and Only Solution to all the problems!

There is some little distance between our location and the military line in southern Lebanon, just north of Israel. We are very safe. Thank you very much, everyone, for your care, love, and greetings! We will continue to be very careful about what we do!

In John 20, verses 19 and 21, Jesus repeats Himself, saying, “Peace be to you!”

‘Peace’ may very well be what people all over the world lack today, more than anything else.  

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).

On October 19, Lebanese churches united to worship and pray for their country for 50 consecutive hours. May the Lord bring “peace” to the Middle East through your prayers.

We urgently ask for your earnest prayer: May the Lord’s gracious hand hinder Hezbollah in Lebanon from entering this war! Otherwise it will be greatly expanded, Lebanon will be drawn into this disastrous conflict, and the overall situation will become much harder to resolve.
