2022 10 Nexus Mission Prayer Letter
Africa – Mineral City

Duke & Sandy
Personal & Family
- Pray for our parents in China. May God protect them and give them good health and joy every day.
- Pray both of us get our permanent residence visas here.
Ministry
- Pray our local brothers and sisters here will mature this year. Pray for their finances, that they experience the result of their faith.
- The church remodeling project begins in October. Pray that we can finish it within two months, that the workers will be safe, and that all the process and project documents are approved smoothly.
- The church is preparing to start having an English service, as now local people are coming every week. Pray we can effectively serve both local people and Chinese — may the Lord guide, bless, and bring souls to Himself!
South Asia – Friendship Country

Giles and Joan Family
Personal & Family
- Pray for our seven-year-old granddaughter’s progress in her studies of English, Chinese, and Urdu.
- May the Lord prepare companions (wives) for our younger son and our coworker Usman to walk the Heavenly Road together.
- Pray our family can go “from strength to strength” to fulfill the Great Commission.
Ministry
- Recently, Friendship Country has experienced floods. Farmers have lost their crops, and the floods have washed away the few positions of the poor. Please pray for the flood situation and the poor, that God will give them the food they need.
- Pray for the seeds of love planted in Q City in local people’s hearts through the flood relief project there which our son Jilun and his wife Maya are running. Pray the Lord makes those seeds grow.
- Pray for the training course that our team has for teenagers. These young people need more teaching and more one-on-one time spent with them.
South Asia – Water City

Lewis & Lucy
Personal & Family
- Pray our whole family keeps close to God and that we can keep a stable family devotional time. Pray God gives us the strength to pursue Him, to run this race with speed and focus.
- Pray for our health and safety, and that this year we experience more of His faithfulness in provision for our needs.
- Pray for Lucy’s father — for his health, and that he hungers more for God. May God protect him, care for him, have mercy on him, and heal him.
Ministry
- May the Lord give me wisdom to manage the coffee shop and communicate well with the workers; and may He provide all the needs of the shop.
- Pray the Lord protects the health of the workers, that the blood of Christ covers them; and pray for us as we train a new manager and new barista.
- May the Lord raise up a new generation of leaders for us.
- Pray for us as we continue our visitations in the community, our weekly women’s small group meetings; and may the Lord provide our local coworkers’ families’ needs.
- Thank God, we’ve come to know the coworker of a local pastor to whom the Lord spoke recently while she was praying. He told her she needs to share her testimony with the women of her people, and she has invited us to share the word of God online with them. May the Lord anoint our mouths and give us suitable words to share with them! Also, since June, in three different villages we have been supporting them to start kindergarten teaching.
Jeremy & Iris
Personal & Family
- Pray the Lord leads me and makes my studies go smoothly in this new semester.
- Thank God, my wife Iris has found a job as a teacher in a special needs school. Pray she can fit in well in her new job.
- Pray for our children’s safety and their studies.
Ministry
- Pray that during the upcoming winter vacation, I can take more people with me on a mission trip to Water City.
Norman & Linda
Personal & Family
- It seems my wife and I may have been infected with the virus the beginning of October, and our third child has a fever. May the Lord keep our whole family healthy!
- Our kids have just returned to Water City and have missed a lot of classes. May the Lord help them in their studies!
Ministry
- We’ve returned to Water City and are preparing to start a small business here as our ministry platform. May the Lord lead us into a suitable business opportunity!
Levant – Tree City

Peter & Sally
Personal & Family
- Pray for my wife’s progress in playing the (piano) keyboard and in time management.
- Pray that our 3-year-old son can get used to riding the bus to school.
Ministry — Nexus Center
- In October, three of our members were baptized. Pray the Lord blesses their lives and protects them from persecution by their families and friends.
- Pray for Nexus Center’s education department, that we will have wisdom to manage everything in this new semester.
- Pray for Vera, a coworker of Nexus Center. She’s had a wound on her leg for a very long time which couldn’t be healed. She’s had 12 operations on her leg here in Tree City, but none of them has been successful. But at the beginning of October she is going to Africa for another operation and treatment, and she plans to come back to Tree City in December. May the Lord give wisdom to the doctors and those giving her treatment, and may the Lord provide the right treatment — may His mighty healing power come upon her!
- Pray for the government here in Tree City to receive His wisdom with unity so they can improve the conditions here. Right now inflation is continuing, and the pain that most people are experiencing is impossible to put into words.
Levant – Olive City

Samson & Ava
Personal & Family
- Recently as I was in prayer, God said to me (Ava), “I want you to raise up more people.” I’m willing to fulfill this calling. Pray we are filled and helped by the Holy Spirit and have the courage to share God’s word with people, that at every step we can hear God’s voice.
- Sometimes ‘unhappy things’ happen here; pray that we be delivered from the attacks of the evil one.
Ministry – The House of Hope
- We have started a new prayer group; pray that more people will join it.
- We’ve started a visitation ministry to share the Gospel with families. Pray the families we visit receive salvation.
- Recently we had a 3-day conference for young people, and about 40 attended. They were moved by the Holy Spirit in the meetings; pray that God uses their lives.
- Pray that the knowledge and the Gospel seed that we have planted in our students will cause them to be victorious in their future lives.
Southeast Asia – Banana City, Lychee City

Brother Tai & Sister Ling
Personal & Family
- Our ministry has been severely restricted because of the pandemic, and we feel distressed about it. May the Lord comfort our whole family’s hearts and help us to be strong and courageous.
Ministry
- May the Lord heal and protect the elderly brothers and sisters and help them to be strong in faith!
- The 10 or 15 stay-at-home children whose parents have left here for work, children that we minister to, often get fever, colds, flu, and diarrhea. May the Lord heal and protect them!
- Lychee City: Due to the civil war, people are trying to find places to hide anywhere they can. May the Lord have mercy, comfort the people’s hearts, and help them not to be afraid. Many orphans have fled to the orphanage, which for the time being is a safe place. The pandemic is severe, and it’s very hard to transport any goods to the mountains, so the living needs of the orphans there are not sure to be supplied. May the Lord keep the orphanage safe and provide for them!
- Banana City: At the end of the rainy season, there have been many mudslides in the mountains, and many brothers’ and sisters’ homes have collapsed. But they have one heart and mind and have rebuilt some grass huts. May the Lord protect the brothers and sisters in the mountains, provide all their living needs, and keep them from getting discouraged!
Southeast Asia – Coconut City

Thai Sister ChawChaw and Hong Kong Sister Winnie
Personal & Family
- May the Lord keep our family members healthy.
- May the Lord take care of my (Winnie’s) younger brother, who has two more chemo treatments ahead of him. May the Lord have mercy on him!
- My interview with the government for issuing my ID card has been scheduled; may the Lord open the way for me!
Ministry
- In October there is a month-long winter vacation, and 20-plus children have returned to Grace Center. May the Lord increase our strength and give us staff to care for the children — to prepare meals, teach musical instruments, teach English, and so on; and may the Lord provide funds for food for all these people!
- May the Lord provide funds for an indoor lavatory (i.e. to put a roof over the lavatory) in Lychee City.
Southeast Asia – Chili City

Zane & Nancy
Personal & Family
- May God give us wisdom, united hearts, and spiritual growth.
- May God heal the rheumatism pain in my (Zane’s) knees.
- May God heal my wife Nancy of her cold/flu and sore throat.
- May the Lord heal my mom’s spine (neck and back) and a problem she has that causes fever.
Ministry
- May the Lord heal the brothers and sisters in the uremia patients’ fellowship — may he give them health and clarity of spirit so they can depend on God.
- May God give wisdom to my wife’s elder sister as she serves in the kindergarten, and may He help her get used to the situation soon.
