Myanmar’s Voice|Brother Tai’s Family Letter

About five months ago, on March 28, 2025, a 7.7- magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar. Then on August 8, 2025, floods and mudslides brought on by heavy rains and aftershocks from the major earthquake struck refugee camps near the Myanmar border with China, claiming 21 lives and affecting over 36,000 people. Supplies such as rice, oil, salt, plywood, and sheet metal were immediately needed. Hundreds of disaster-stricken homes, churches, and orphanages needed reconstruction. Many children contracted malaria in the floods.

Nexus responded immediately, purchasing medicine, food, and other urgently needed supplies. Thankfully, the children we serve have recovered. God demonstrated His healing and provision amidst illness and food shortages.

Peace be with you! I (Brother Tai) have been serving in refugee camps and orphanages in Myanmar for over ten years together with Nexus Misson. We have witnessed the children’s growth and see their lives transformed.

In these times of scarcity, children may only have the chance to eat meat once a week. We donate large pigs to refugee camps and small pigs to orphanages, hoping to provide nutritional support as well as spiritual encouragement and comfort. Recently, we delivered fruit, pork, and biscuits again and were filled with gratitude when we saw the smiles of the refugees and children.

“We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” — Mother Teresa

“If I give all my possessions to the poor, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” — 1 Corinthians 13:3

We witnessed God’s grace:

– Seven young people decided to believe in the Lord and were baptized.

At the orphanage, we conduct Sunday school and discipleship training. Seven young people have made a commitment to believe in the Lord and have been baptized. They are determined to follow the Lord and spread the gospel to more ethnic groups. They are preparing to enter theological seminary, where they will learn Chinese, Burmese, and Jingpo languages, and spread the gospel to ethnic groups such as the Achang and Deang.

A pregnant sister successfully gave birth to a baby girl even while fleeing the floodwaters. Everyone worked together, some helping hold umbrellas while others helped deliver the baby. We witnessed God’s abundant grace!

Clean Drinking Water Source for Refugee Camps

We have already sent some relief supplies, such as generators and water pumps, to bring clean drinking water from the mountains to the refugee camps. They are still in urgent need of necessities such as bedding, clothing, shoes, and socks; and we hope to help them rebuild their homes.

Pumps bring clean water from the mountains into the refugee camp for drinking.

Internally displaced persons (IDP’s) are those who have been forced to leave their homes or habitual places of residence due to violence, armed conflict, human rights violations, natural disasters, or other crises, but who remain within their own country. Myanmar’s 77-year civil war has displaced over 3 million people. Nexus Ministries serves Myanmar refugees and internally displaced persons along the China-Myanmar border, the Myanmar-Thailand border, and the Laos-Myanmar border.
