Levant – Olive City – House of Hope

On the morning of February 6th, some women came to House of Hope, and one of them had received a phone call: All her relatives died in the earthquake (including her parents, siblings and her 2 children). She kept crying and crying. Not only her, but many families with relatives in the north of Olive City have relatives who died or disappeared. The women all said in unison: “We’ve had enough of so much death! First the wars, now the earthquakes.”

Levant – Tree City – Nexus Center

Ismahan is a member of Nexus Center. After the earthquake, she received a phone message: her son-in-law and 2 granddaughters have passed away, and her daughter and young grandson are missing. She was experiencing much grief. Our team visited her at her home to pray and encourage her. After we prayed, she got a call that her daughter and young grandson had been rescued from the rubble, thankfully they were all well.

Although Ismahan was sad, the news gave her a little hope. She said: “I know life is short, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. My daughter and grandson are now homeless, without food, without warmth. I will try to get them to come back to me in Tree City, so we can go to church together and they must meet Jesus.”

Fatima, a member of the Nexus Center, received a call after the earthquake telling her that her mother and brother were missing and possibly in the rubble.

She immediately called the Nexus Center to tell us what had happened, crying and crying. Then, our team went to visit her home to pray for her and encourage her.

That afternoon, she received a call that her mother and brother had been rescued and that they were doing well with only superficial injuries.

Her brother said: “They were about to flee when they got to the door and the whole house collapsed. At one point the wooden door protected us and we came out of the rubble alive. It was a four-storey house and no one survived except us, (breaking down in tears), and God gave me a new lease on life.”

There are three co-workers (Rosaline, Aynour, Othman) in the Nexus Center. Their house in Olive City was completely destroyed, and their families had to sleep in the car, on the road, or on the mountain.
