Project Seeds Annual Review

Levant –  Project Seeds

Since 2019 there has been no improvement in the terrible economic conditions in Olive City and Tree City — in fact those situations have continued to deteriorate and were further exacerbated by the February 2023 earthquake. But thankfully, none of the children of Nexus Center or the House of Hope were injured by the earthquake; and within a few days, their mood was back to normal.

From a human perspective, Tree City and Olive City are overwhelmed with hopeless situations! But our teams are working hard and making progress on many fronts with faith and determination to serve children and their families. We do this because we are not looking at what we can see but are depending on the Invisible God!

Olive City – The House of Hope

Let No One Despise Your Youth!

During their Christmas party, the House of Hope kids put on a stage play, sang songs, and received gifts. Afterwards they returned to their school and happily told their teachers what they had done at the House of Hope. What happened next was something we hadn’t dared imagine: the teacher asked them if they could teach their classmates the Christmas play. Of course, our children were very happy to do so, and in the end they performed the play and sang songs for all their classmates (about 700) and their parents. It’s amazing how God uses little children to proclaim Good News!

Tree City – Nexus Center

Aziza

We Are All Princes And Princesses

Aziza is about 5 years old. Nexus Center teachers asked her what her dream was, and she replied, “My dream is to become a princess … but that’s impossible, because princesses are all very beautiful and have big castles.”

So we decided to give her a surprise: we made crowns for her and her classmates, and when she arrived at the Center, we welcomed her like a princess. We told her, “Today you’re a princess!” Then we shared with all the students that our Heavenly Father is King, and we are his children; so we are all princesses and princes! Aziza was very happy and said with a big smile, “My dream has come true! Today I feel that I really am a princess!”

Coconut City – Grace Center

Chaw Chaw is the lady in charge at Grace Center, and Winnie is her good friend and coworker of many years.

Due to its many years of civil war, Lychee City has many children who’ve never had a chance to go to school, and also many orphans.

Because she recognized the need, Chaw Chaw has been ministering with her whole heart and soul to these children for more than ten years. They have accepted more than 20 children within their ability, and it is beyond their ability to accept more. However, Chaw Chaw and Winnie are still ministering joyfully every day, trusting in God’s unfailing grace!

Lychee City – The Potter’s House

Angela is the one responsible for running The Potter’s House, and she deeply loves the children of Lychee City who have never had the chance to go to school. That’s why she has taken in more than 100 children in The Potter’s House and given them an education, in the hope that in the future they will become people useful to society.

When life’s storms come, may you continue to be peaceful and stable!

Sincerely,

Olivia, Nexus Mission
