Ceasefire Agreement – Rebuilding Homes After War

Peace to You, Dear friends of Nexus!

In 2013, Nexus Mission began working in Lebanon. In 2014, we donated our first 20-foot container of relief supplies, and subsequently distributed a total of thirteen containers of relief supplies to Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brazil, and the United States.

After the 2019 Beirut explosion, we participated in rebuilding destroyed churches and the homes of both believers and non-believers. We devoted all our manpower and material resources to disaster relief work.

In order to demonstrate that “God loves the world,” together with local churches we serve those in need in the community. We are dedicated to building relationships and committed to soul-saving and discipleship.

During the recent war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, which began more than a year ago, Nexus Center has continued without interruption to provide classes for about 120 children. We have also continued with church meetings and discipleship training and opened the Center to provide temporary residence and support to needy families displaced by the war.

On November 27, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah became official and was put into effect. All over Lebanon gunfire celebrating the ceasefire could be heard. However, now there is much work to be done!

We sincerely invite you to participate and become the “hands and feet of Jesus” with us to serve those in need. Christmas is coming soon, and we plan to hold a rich program to share the good news of Christmas. During the ceasefire, we will expand the scope of our services, rebuild families, and save those who are wounded and broken in body, mind, and spirit from the war.

Violence in Pakistan

Recently in Pakistan, protest demonstrations by Sunni and Shia Muslims turned into armed conflicts, resulting in the deaths of nearly eighty people. But amid the many difficulties, co-workers have sent us good news:

New Families Begins To Follow Christ

Brother Thomson is the father of four children. Before coming to the church, he had been in jail for stealing, taken drugs, and committed adultery. But now he and his wife have confessed and repented, and their relationship has been restored. They were all baptized a few weeks ago.

Another family is Shahzad’s (the father of four boys). His wife has never been to school, but for the past four months she has attended our adult literacy classes and can now read the Bible on her own. Unfortunately, their only daughter died three months ago after being poisoned by her husband. Shahzad also used to use drugs, but now God has set him free.

Egypt: The Largest Christian Population in the Arab World – a Testimony of Faith

Egypt, a land with a rich historical and cultural heritage, is a living testament to God’s past and continuing presence. More importantly, Egyptian believers have been steadfast in their faith. With the largest Christian population in the Arab world, Egypt is a beacon of hope in the Middle East. God’s work there thrives in the face of challenges.

The number of Christians in Egypt is estimated to be 5% to 10% of the total population — that is, 4 to 10 million people. Most believers belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church.  

In late 2024, three of Nexus Mission’s co-workers in Lebanon embarked on a journey to Egypt, together with partners from South Africa, Germany, Ireland, and the United States. Our goal was simple: stand alongside the church of Egypt and provide encouragement and support to pastors and families who faithfully serve God.

In Aswan, we visited a 120-year-old German hospital. The hospital provides service to the poor and disadvantaged groups. They have devoted themselves silently and bear beautiful witness to the love of God. We were deeply moved by the story of how the hospital saw its very first convert after serving the community for 98 years. Their patience and persistence reminds us to be faithful and perseverant and to believe that God is at work even if we don’t see immediate results.

From Despair to Divine Light: Garbage City and the Cave Church

The famous Garbage City, in the center of Cairo, Egypt, is a place where despair and faith coexist. The “Cave Church” is a symbol of the strength and resilience of the Egyptian Church. The Cave Church can accommodate 10,000 people and is one of the largest church facilities in the Middle East — used through the centuries by congregations of believers who would not be shaken by the many challenges of life. In the darkest corner of society, here we saw the light of God shining on the earth.

Become “the hands and feet of Jesus” to minister to those in need: in Lebanon, rebuilding after the war; in Pakistan, stopping the violence that continues; in Egypt, helping people look up from their despair to see God’s light shining upon the earth.
