He Is Risen! Happy Easter!

A Story of Scars — Let Us Teach; But more than that — Let Us Love：

Halima, a kindergarten girl, walked into the classroom, face and eyes swollen and with obvious bruises on her arms. The teacher asked her what had happened. She whispered, “My mother always beats me, and she was very angry yesterday.” At that moment, we didn’t know what to do. We prayed and asked God how to help her.

We then visited with her family — not to blame, but to listen and understand, to bring the hope of healing not only to Halima but also to the family. We spoke carefully, knowing that healing takes time — that one visit is not enough. People need ongoing care, time to build trust, and seeds of peace in places of pain to be sown in their hearts. Only He can mend a broken heart; only His love can soften a hard heart. The mission of Nexus Center is not only to educate, but also to love — not only to shelter children, but also to let their families feel the healing power of Christ.

He Is Risen!

We witnessed a miracle! The power of being healed in silence! The grace and warmth of God shines like light in the lives of the children and families we serve. Although Nexus primarily serves Muslims and people of other religious backgrounds, and we know that this mission is challenging; yet we also are confident that when we share His love with sincerity and tenderness, He will always make a way for us.

Letters from Pakistan

In 2024, a number of terrorist attacks against Chinese people occurred in Pakistan, resulting in the death or serious injury of Chinese citizens including miners and engineers as well as those of Pakistanis and Afghans working with them. The threat of terrorism remains severe.

Nexus Chinese workers cooperate with local pastors serving Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims (some of whom are Afghan refugees) to distribute food packages, run children’s centers and literacy classes, serve vulnerable groups, and provide various other kinds of assistance.

Our March newsletter mentioned that we hoped to distribute 1,000 Bibles. Thank God, a supporter was inspired to make a donation, and we are seeing fruitful results. In the following two recent baptisms, seven people were baptized into Christ.

A Story From the Levant

The students watched an Easter video, played games, made crafts, decorated eggs, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. As the teacher told the Easter story, students listened attentively and asked questions enthusiastically. But the most touching and unexpected scene happened a few days later.

A student’s mother contacted us. Her son had come home and shared his experience and what he’d learned from celebrating Easter. She had been so moved by hearing this story and by seeing his behavior becoming increasingly peaceful and obedient that she had decided to bring the Center a gift — candies for all the children — to show her appreciation for the education the Center had been providing for her son.

When we thanked her for encouraging us, she said, “Every day I see the child slowly changing. He even told me the story of Easter. This makes me feel that we should celebrate with you. You always give selflessly, and I hope to learn this spirit of sharing from you. Although my small gift is insignificant, I believe it has a sacred meaning.”

This kind of response is unusual among Muslim refugees. We see that Christ’s love is not just one-way; it flows out, in, and through, touching people’s hearts in a miraculous way without their realizing it, even in places where we thought He would never be accepted.

First time participating in an inter-school competition

The Nexus School soccer team participated in an inter-school match for the first time. The main point of the game is not to win! It’s about practicing good behavior, growing in teamwork, and learning to be happy for the success of others. Thank God, we won 2-1 this time! Students not only improved their skills but also improved in character and spirit.

The school offers a “Love Zone Day” on Fridays. But this Easter weekend it was more important to accompany the children from Friday until Sunday because the ending of Easter is not sadness, but fullness of hope — the joy of Resurrection! So thank you for walking with us on this blessed journey together!

Project Seeds educates and builds the futures of children in need around the world. They include 120 children in Lebanon, 200 in Syria, and children in Myanmar, northern Thailand, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
