You and Nexus Mission are joining hands for the “A Bite to Eat For the Hungry” Project – Kairos Opportunity!

Dear pastors, churches and friends of Nexus, blessings to you all!
You and Nexus Mission are joining hands for the “A Bite to Eat For the Hungry” Project – A Golden Opportunity!
Goal:
Food packets at $ 21 USD ($ 160 HKD) each; Total cost $ 42,000 USD ($ 320,000 HKD).
Each food packet provides two weeks’ food for a family of six. They will help Pakistani, Afghani, and Burmese disaster victims and refugees fight hunger.
Baluchistan, Pakistan — historic flooding (Q City, Friendship Country) Baluchistan, Pakistan recent storms have turned into disaster — a flood of historic proportions. One third of the country has been underwater. Since June, over 1200 people are known to have died, and the figure is expected to go up. More than 33 million people have become disaster victims. Rain has been the heaviest in over 10 years, said to be due to climate change. Rivers have broken dams and dykes, washing away roads and bridges, and many places have become vast expenses of water where there is not even any dry land around to place equipment on for pumping water away. It is hard to imagine the extent of this crisis! The immediate need is tents and food for those who have lost their homes.
However, because so many roads, railroads, and communication facilities in flooded areas have been destroyed, unaffected areas have not been able to keep contact with disaster-stricken areas, hampering relief efforts. It is expected that disease, poor nutrition, and other problems will follow hard on the heels of the disaster.
A Nexus coworker eyewitness is there going through it with the victims – as the Scripture says, “When one member suffers, all suffer with it …”

Afghan refugees in Pakistan
The country has suffered many years of war. Its historic tide of exiting refugees, according to UNHCR data (up to 2022), has now brought Pakistan (Friendship Country) to rank as the fourth-largest refugee host country in the world, with an official total of 1.3 million refugees. But to this figure adding unregistered homeless Afghanis, the total is 3.5 million. The number of Christians in Afghanistan is estimated to be 8-12 thousand, a mere 0.02% of its population of 38 million.
At the border of Pakistan (Q City, Friendship Country), Nexus Mission hosts Afghani refugees, both Christians and non-Christians. Now Q City has become one of the worst flood-stricken areas. Please pray for these — our family members — who have been suddenly plunged into deep suffering! Our first priority is to strengthen Christians. Due to the fact that those involved — both those serving and being served — are in a very sensitive area, we cannot share many details here.

A testimony of one Afghani family that received help:
Dafu lived in a urban area in a country bordering Afghanistan. He is an Afghani Uzbek Muslim who attended a Madrasa (Islamic school) since he was young. Because he received a food packet, he and his younger brother began attending a Christian school, and a Nexus coworker has established good relationships with his whole family, including his father.

Forgotten Myanmar — The Civil War With No End In Sight (Lychee City)
Myanmar’s civil war has been recognized as the longest ongoing civil war in modern history.
This civil war has continued for over sixty years, giving Myanmar the dubious distinction of being the country with the longest ongoing civil war in modern history. Myanmar has about 135 ethnic groups, whose vast cultural differences are one of the important reasons for the protracted civil war.
Nexus has established help centers near the borders in southern China and northern Thailand and focuses especially on helping orphans and widows. Recently the situation has become very severe, and the help centers have increased assistance to children fleeing from disaster in Myanmar.
